Last August, we applied for our kids’ US Visas for our family vacation. Because we live far from the US Embassy and our interview schedule was very early, we decided to look for a hotel near the embassy. Whenever we choose hotels to stay in, we research and read reviews, just to make sure we are booking a family and kid-friendly hotel. However, in this case, what was most important for us was the location – we had to make sure that the hotel is just walking distance or at least a few minutes drive to the embassy. We had several choices, we considered Manila Hotel, H2O Hotel, New World Manila Bay, Diamond Hotel and Bayview Park Hotel. Most of the 4 or 5-star hotels were a bit farther from the embassy though – and since we did not want to drive going to the interview, we settled for Bayview Park Hotel Manila.
We did not really have high expectations of the hotel since the reviews were not really that impressive. But when we checked-in, we thought it was not at all that bad. 🙂 Although the hotel itself looked dated, the rooms were refurbished and the amenities were okay.
The room we booked was a corner deluxe room- the room had one single bed and one double bed. I do not think they have a room with a king-sized bed so we just had to request for the beds to be placed beside each other. The room was surprisingly bigger than normal deluxe rooms – it was not crowded even with two beds, a play pen (for the baby), and a couch in front of the TV.
The room was clean and it looked fresh, maybe because the linens were bright and clean. I believe the room we got was just recently renovated and I’m happy because it does not smell like an old rug and looks moldy just as I feared it would be (haha)
What I loved most about the room is the view – I specifically asked for a room facing the nice part of the bay. Sunset was a lovely sight, too bad I did not take pictures!
